Watch repair services overview

— Three Services —

Defined scope. Published pricing. Documented results.

Each service at Tickwright is bounded in scope and supported by a written report. Choose the service that fits your piece, or contact us if you are unsure.

— Methodology —

The Tickwright service approach.

All three service categories share the same underlying principle: observe first, document thoroughly, and act only with the owner's explicit agreement. This approach emerged from a recognition that watchmaking is one of the few repair disciplines where the client often cannot verify the scope of work performed — making transparency not merely a courtesy, but a professional obligation.

The written diagnostic report is the practical expression of this principle. It records what was found, how the assessment was conducted, what was recommended, and — after approval — what was done. This document is returned with the piece and remains the owner's permanent record of the intervention.

Chronograph function assessment

Service 01

Chronograph Function Assessment

RM 780

A diagnostic service for column-wheel and cam-actuated chronograph movements experiencing pushing irregularities, return-to-zero issues, or inconsistent hand alignment. The assessment begins with a seated evaluation using dedicated chronograph test equipment, followed by selective disassembly of the chronograph module to isolate the concern.

The owner receives a written diagnostic report outlining the observed condition and any recommended next steps, together with photographs taken during the inspection. No repair work is initiated without prior written agreement.

What is covered:

  • Seated evaluation with dedicated test equipment
  • Selective disassembly of chronograph module
  • Column-wheel and cam-actuator examination
  • Hand-alignment verification
  • Written report with photographs
  • Next-step recommendations in writing

Process timeline:

  1. Day 1–2 Intake and initial seated evaluation
  2. Day 2–4 Module disassembly and documentation
  3. Day 4–5 Report preparation and delivery to owner

Quartz Module & Battery Service

A full service for quartz timepieces that addresses considerably more than a simple battery swap. The work includes module inspection, coil continuity testing, gasket evaluation, case cleaning, and pressure verification where applicable.

Replacement cells are sourced from established suppliers and matched to the original specification. The service is suited to daily-wear quartz watches and those that have been idle for extended periods or show signs of water ingress. A short written summary accompanies the returned piece.

What is covered:

  • Module visual inspection
  • Coil continuity measurement
  • Gasket condition evaluation
  • Case cleaning
  • OEM-matched battery replacement
  • Pressure verification (where applicable)
  • Written service summary

Crystal and gasket replacement

Service 03

Crystal & Gasket Replacement

RM 620

Replacement of scratched or cracked crystals and the accompanying gasket set, performed for mineral, acrylic, and sapphire variants where donor parts are available. The process begins with identification of the correct reference and diameter, followed by careful removal of the existing crystal, cleaning of the bezel seat, and pressure-fitting of the replacement.

Gaskets are replaced across the case back, crown, and pushers as applicable. A water resistance test follows where the design permits, and the owner is advised of any limitations specific to the piece.

What is covered:

  • Reference and diameter identification
  • Crystal removal and bezel seat cleaning
  • Pressure-fitting of replacement crystal
  • Gasket replacement — case back, crown, pushers
  • Water resistance test (where design allows)
  • Mineral, acrylic, and sapphire variants

Process timeline:

  1. Day 1 Intake, reference identification, part sourcing
  2. Day 2–5 Replacement work and water resistance test
  3. Day 5–7 Summary documentation and notification
