Brought in my chronograph after the pusher started behaving oddly — sometimes it would not reset cleanly. Razif gave me a thorough written report within the week. He identified the column wheel had worn pivot points, showed me photographs, and gave me options before doing anything. That approach is genuinely rare. The piece now functions as it should.

My daily quartz had been running a bit slow and I noticed the display case back looked like it might have had some moisture at some point. Mei Ying handled the service — module and gasket check, fresh cell, case cleaning. The turnaround was three days. Her written summary was concise and told me what she found. Would have preferred a slightly earlier notification that it was ready, but the work itself was solid.

My mother's watch had a scratched mineral crystal and the case back seal was questionable. Tickwright sourced the correct crystal — which took a few extra days as they wanted to match the exact diameter — and replaced the full gasket set. After it came back, they told me the pressure test result and the specific limitations for the case design. I appreciated that they were upfront about what the test could and could not confirm.

I have an inherited piece — a vintage cam-actuated chronograph — that I had been hesitant to bring anywhere. Tickwright was recommended by another collector. They were clear from the start that they would assess before touching, and the report I received was genuinely useful. They identified two concerns: one repairable in-house, one that would require a specialised parts source. They told me which was which and left the decision entirely to me. That is the kind of workshop you want.

Brought in two quartz pieces that had been sitting unused for a few years. Both received the full module service. The battery types were matched correctly — something I had noticed other workshops getting wrong before. Both pieces are now running well. The written summary was a small touch I had not expected and found useful as a reference.

Sapphire crystal replacement on a sports watch. They confirmed the reference first and got the correct crystal in about four days. The fitting was clean and the water resistance test came back fine. The full gasket set replacement was something I had asked about specifically, and they handled all three locations without me having to push for it. My only note would be the workshop is slightly difficult to find the first time — but it is worth locating.

Case Study 01 · Chronograph
Vintage column-wheel chronograph — inconsistent reset
The Challenge
A collector brought in an early 1970s column-wheel chronograph that had developed an inconsistent return-to-zero behaviour. The minute counter hand would sometimes land off its zero mark after reset, and the problem was not reproducible — it would occur two or three times in ten resets.
The Approach
Assessment began with the dedicated chronograph test equipment to document the failure pattern. Selective disassembly of the chronograph module revealed a worn heart-piece cam on the minute counter that had lost its symmetry — causing the hammer to land inconsistently. The assessment report included close-up photographs of the worn surface.
The Outcome
The client was presented with the report and approved replacement of the minute counter heart piece. A donor part was sourced from a spare parts supplier in a week. After fitting and timing, the reset now lands correctly on ten from ten attempts. Total time from intake to return: seventeen days.
"The report was what convinced me. I could see exactly what was wrong before I agreed to anything." — Rajan G., Bangsar
Case Study 02 · Quartz
Daily-wear quartz — premature battery drain and condensation
The Challenge
A daily-wear quartz that had been through two battery replacements in eighteen months came in with fresh battery drain occurring faster than expected and traces of fine condensation visible under the crystal in certain lighting conditions.
The Approach
Coil continuity measurement showed the coil was intact. The gasket on the case back was found to have compressed beyond its serviceable range, which was likely contributing to slow moisture ingress over time — consistent with the premature drain pattern. The module was cleaned and inspected, new gaskets fitted at all three positions, and a fresh OEM-matched cell installed.
The Outcome
Pressure test passed within the design specification for the case. The written summary noted that the previous two battery replacements had been done without gasket replacement — which is a common shortcut that creates exactly this kind of accumulated problem. The owner was advised to schedule a gasket check at the two-year mark going forward.
Case Study 03 · Crystal
Sapphire crystal replacement — sports watch with acrylic crown issue
The Challenge
A sports watch came in with a cracked sapphire crystal and a crown that the owner reported was stiffer than usual to wind. The owner wanted the crystal replaced and asked about the crown as part of the intake discussion.
The Approach
Reference identification confirmed the correct sapphire crystal specification. The crown issue was investigated during the service — the crown tube showed signs of debris accumulation but no structural damage. The crystal was replaced with a pressure-fit, the full gasket set renewed, and the crown tube cleaned. Pressure test followed.
The Outcome
Pressure test passed to rated specification. Crown stiffness resolved without requiring tube replacement. The owner was informed that the service addressed the crown incidentally — this was not billed as a separate service item since no part replacement was required. Service complete in six working days.
